Genesis 8:4
And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.
By the time Noah’s ark landed and they could come out of the ark, the family of 8 had spent approximately an entire year inside the ark with all the animals! Can you imagine how anxious they would have been to come out and to see dry ground again?
And can you imagine how different the whole world looked now after that great flood?
Nothing would be recognizable anymore. The mountains were now jagged and rocky where once they had been large beautiful rolling hills.
The Lord caused a strong wind to come over the earth to bury all of the thousands of people who died in the flood. They, along with gold and silver that had once capped the original hills, were and are buried deep under the mountains we see today.
Where are the Ararat Mountains?
The Mountains of Ararat.
Mount Ararat is the highest peak in the Ararat mountains of eastern Turkey. It stands nearly 17,000 feet above sea level, yet the Bible says that the Ark came to rest on the "mountains of Ararat", and this suggests that the Ark could have rested anywhere in that whole region. Mount Ararat is around 200 miles north of ancient Nineveh where Jonah was called to go.

Genesis 9:13-16
13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.
